MW 5103 The Art of Media and Worship

I got to practice photography and poetry for Dr. Tim Basselin’s class. The first piece is about a snowwoman we built. These are my pictures that I made to look like watercolor. The second submission is a few pieces I worked on during the semester, some I submitted for a grade and some I did not. I used graphics I purchased for the cover design, but the photographs inside are all my own.

Learning Reflection (100 word minimum)

As I developed and demonstrated writing in other areas of my degree and ministry experience, I have learned that I only have so much creative energy. If I am creating a project for a theology class and another for a Bible class, then I do not have the time to do personal creative projects. Blocking time to work on just one creative project at a time helped me to be able to focus on more than one project. I also learned how much I enjoyed writing poetry again. It felt like a type of worship for me, so whether or not I publish any of it, I plan to continue writing it as a way to stay close to God.

Lifelong Development Statement (100 word minimum)

As a result of the experiences documented by these artifacts, I will continue to develop the skills needed to improve my writing. I plan to take the Digital Production for Ministry class at DTS in the spring. I will continue to practice writing through exercises in books like Writing Creative Nonfiction or The Writer’s Portable Mentor. I will continue to participate in my writing group and submit articles for publication. Several people have encouraged me to write down my experiences as I take care of my mother. I am doing so and will see how the Lord desires to use it.
